"How do you compare to so-and-so picture place?" Well, let me shed a little light on this subject. So often we have customers that belittle our photography pricing that I want to set the record straight once and for all.
We do not compare at all with run-of-the-mill portrait studios. We don't run a "$20 special", we do not upsell you to over $300 during your session, and we do not lock you into poses you absolutely do not love. We offer you ONLY what you want, and ONLY what you need. You want one pose and one 8"x10" print? We can do that. You want three poses, with 2 8"x10" prints, one 16"x20" print, and three sheets of wallets with a different pose on each? We can do that. Free retouching? We do that too.
Don't like your pose? We'll reshoot it for you until you're happy. We based our portrait sitting and fees on the horror we went through using picture places as children. Mom always got sucked into the "$20 special" and ended up spending upwards of $300. We've also heard this from countless customers. We were forced to choose from two poses we didn't like in the first place. We ended up going home with numerous prints we didn't need but had to pay for anyway. We didn't want to set it up this way for a reason.
We want our customers to be happy with the portraits they choose, and be happy with what they are paying for when they leave our store. No extra unwanted prints, no feeling of 'I didn't really like that pose', and no feeling that you just got taken advantage of. You get what you pay for in so many areas of life. Photography and family portraits are no different. If something like a "$20 portrait special" sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
